In the past few months I started making blankets and burp clothes as a hobby and as a way to bless friends that have just had babies or already have a young one. I have been debating whether or not to start this as a business, and it’s been a debate for a few different reasons. The first reason is, I am SO bad at business stuff… I tried to sell Arbonne and failed because I don’t have the business mind-set. I am good a selling stuff, but I am NOT good at all the work that comes with it! The second reason being if I turn this into a business, I may not ENJOY it as much. THIS would suck because I LOVE blessing people with these blankets. The third reason is time. It takes a lot of time to make the blankets and if this does take off, I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish ordered blankets in the proper amount of time. So, those are my reasons for being hesitant on turning a passion into a business.
On the other hand, I know the Lord has given me a gift in sewing and it’s a gift that I definitely enjoy (even if I’m not the best sewer around)! I love to bless people with the blankets (did I mention that yet?!?), and if I do turn this into a business I’m not sure how to go from blessing people to selling the blessings…so here is what I feel I may be doing…
A couple that Casey and myself are close with are missionaries in Germany and are looking to come back to the States for a few months but don’t have the finances in and of themselves to do so. They are so confident the Lord will provide the finances, and I know the Lord gave me a gift in sewing, so I want to use it to help. I want to bless them by selling these blankets for a fee in order to help fund their trip here. There will be more on this will come, but for now, below are some pictures of the blankets and burp-clothes I make and will potentially be selling. ALSO, if I do this all of the funds will go to them and to purchasing the materials for the blankets (which is minimal).
